Ken Ofori Atta’s Data Bank Receives GH¢159 Million from Government for Bond Advisory

Since the Akufo-Addo-led government took office on January 7, 2017, Databank, which is partially controlled by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, is believed to have earned GH159 million. Despite its close ties to the minister, the government has chosen the business to serve as one of its Transaction Advisors for the issue of government bonds.

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, a member of parliament for South Dayi, claims that Databank has been earning the aforementioned sum for its bond advice services since 2017.

The NDC MP explained his estimates on Twitter, citing a paper submitted to Parliament in December 2022. According to a breakdown of the numbers, the government was paid a total of GH 85 million in 2021, whereas GH 11.83 million was paid in 2019. Mixed responses have been seen on social media in response to the NDC MP’s disclosure.
