What’s stopping Ghana from running 24-hour Economy ? — Samuel Aryeequaye questions Gov’t
Acting Central regional chairman for the Liberal Party Of Ghana and 2020 parliamentary candidate for Agona East, Samuel Aryeequaye has joined the tall list of people calling on the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to introduce 24 hours working shift system in Public Sector to improve productivity and reduce unemployment.
Speaking on Atinka Television’s Weekend political talk show ‘Oman Mu Nsem’ hosted by Nana Owoahene Acheampong, the politician cum businessman said this will increase the workforce of the nation.
“Ghana run an eight-hour economy. We go to work at 8 am, and we close at 5 pm, and we shut the business and everyone goes home meanwhile we need to create more employment. And so if even we added one more shift, you can imagine the number of people we can employ. Government can give industries a tax incentive to do additional work to increase productivity.”
In order to assure responsiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness in service delivery at all levels of government, the new strategy would, among other things, restructure the procedures and increase the ability of the people who deliver the public service.
Additionally, he proposed the implementation of “input and output analysis” to track employees, which, if carefully implemented, would increase the nation’s GDP and better position the government to pay employees’ salaries.
He claims that this is one of the key secrets to the prosperity and lower unemployment of almost all western nations.
