Real Madrid optimistic about signing England’s rising star in the summer – report

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Jude Bellingham has been well-documented in recent weeks. It is an open secret that the reigning European champions have made the English international their transfer priority for the summer of 2023.

Real Madrid are confident of extending the contract of Luka Modric, while Toni Kroos, too, is favouring an extension. But the club are determined to add more young blood in the midfield department. That is where Bellingham comes into the fray.

Spanish publication MARCA’s front cover today features a photo of Jude Bellingham, with the caption reading, “Bellingham on the way.”

The outlet suggests Real Madrid are now optimistic about sealing the services of the Borussia Dortmund starlet, who is regarded as one of the best young players in world football right now.

Although Bellingham’s contract at BVB does not expire until 2025, the Bundesliga giants have reportedly taken for granted that he is leaving the club at the end of the season. They have even set a valuation of around €140 million, of which €40 million will be in bonuses.

Real Madrid, for their part, have reportedly set aside €130 million for the acquisition of Bellingham, who is understood to be prepared to take the next step in his career after a successful spell at Dortmund.

Since joining the club in 2020, the former Birmingham City starlet has racked up 112 competitive matches for Dortmund, scoring 19 goals while mustering 21 assists. Aside from his productivity, he has shown exemplary technical abilities and leadership qualities.

Bellingham’s performances have not only been restricted to club football either. The youngster has racked up 22 caps for England at the age of just 19 and starred at the FIFA World Cup recently.

It is indicative of his quality as a footballer and his maturity as a professional, all of which make the Englishman an ideal target for Real Madrid.
