The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana says government has not lived up to its word with the complete reversal of benchmark value.
According to the Association, earlier last year, it met with the Finance Minister to discuss the gradual process of a complete reversal of the benchmark values.
The Minister who then suggested the setting up of an ADHOC committee including the business community, did not do so before, the Ghana Revenue Authority, GRA’s announcement of the implementation of the policy.
According to the Executive Secretary of the Association, Samson Asaki Awingobit, “government has stabbed them in the back by allowing GRA to begin the implementation of the benchmark value.”
Speaking via video link during an interaction with the media, Mr. Awingobit said, “this will result in high prices of goods on the markets,”
