A police constable supposedly serious self destruction at his obligation post, a media transmission office, close to the Obetsebi Circle, in Accra, on Wednesday.
The departed, recognized as Abukari Salifu of the Operational Unit at the police central command, Accra, who was thought to have fired himself with an assistance rifle, was found in a pool of blood in a washroom at his obligation post.
The Ghanaian Times accumulated that police had data about the misfortune at 12:30pm and continued to the scene to initiate examinations.
A group from the Crime Scene Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the scene and the body was passed on to the Police Hospital Mortuary.
Onlookers apparently alarmed the police that they heard a sound of a gunfire in the washroom, and when they went to figure out what had occurred, they observed Salifu lying in a pool of blood.
An assertion gave by the Director-General of the Police Public Affairs, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwesi Ofori, affirmed the misfortune.
It said, “The Ghana Police Service (GPS) is examining the conditions encompassing the demise of one of our own, a cop, who purportedly shot himself, while on the job, on April 27, 2022, at the Graphic Road, Abossey Okai.”
It would be reviewed that there had been a progression of supposed self destruction by police staff inside the most recent two years.
They incorporate Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Divine Asiam, who was with the Legal and Prosecutions Unit of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), until he supposedly shot himself in his room at Borteyman, Accra.
Director of Police Cyprian Zenge, who was Half Assini District Police Commander, additionally allegedly shot himself on January 30, 2021.
Subsequently, the GPS, last year, laid out the Police Counseling Unit to give police staff and their wards mental administrations and help.
