Champions League

How many Champions League titles do Manchester City and Real Madrid have?

All in Los Blancos’ favour

Real Madrid’s history in the Champions League is bettered by no other club, something Pep Guardiola knows all too well.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the semi-final tie between his Manchester City and Los Blancos, the Catalan coach mentioned that if it was decided by the history of the two sides, his team wouldn’t be able to compete.

“If we have to play against their history, we won’t have a chance,” Guardiola stated. “They are better in this aspect.

“But we have the desire to compete against them, it’s an incredible test.”

The tie is marked by the devastating 13-0 record in favour of Real Madrid in terms of European Cup success.

Real Madrid have the most European Cup/Champions League titles, while City are still trying to win their first ever.

Last season, City came mightily close to it, losing the final against Chelsea. They are now trying to reach their second ever final that will give them the opportunity to fight for the coveted title that has eluded them.

The power of Real Madrid’s 13 titles

But for City’s dream to come true, they must first eliminate the team with the most European Cups of the 20th century (6) and also of the 21st century (7).

In total, 13 Champions League titles adorn the incredible and incomparable trophy room of the Real Madrid museum.
