Anti LGBTQ Bill: I will tell every gay and lesbian to feel free – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has waded into the LGBTQ debate, saying, “it’s a free world.” Speaking on Twitter Space, the maverick artiste argued that he could not discriminate against the LGBTQ community since most of them work for him.

“It’s a free world, and we have to know how to fight for our rights. I have fans who are lesbians and gays. I love them because recently, I was being styled by a gay person. So I will tell every lesbian and gay person to feel free,” he stated on the Kalyjay Space on Twitter.

The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021 is a private bill brought to parliament by a private citizen with support from the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam George. Although many have critiqued the bill for being anti-LGBTQ, drafters insist it is in the good interest of Ghana and family tradition.


A senior adviser to President Akufo-Addo, Gabby Otchere Darko, has accused framers of the anti-LGBTQI bill if exposing Ghana to be blacklisted as a country promoting hate against a minority group. Taking to his Twitter page, Gabby tweeted that ” this Bill only serves one purpose: to get Ghana blacklisted for promoting hate!” The controversial bill was introduced by a private citizen and subsequently had the backing of some members of parliament including the MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George.

Ameyaw Debrah accused of being a member of the LGBTQI community

Ghanaian celebrity blogger, freelance journalist, and reporter, Ameyaw Kissi Debrah has been alleged to be a member of the LGBTQI community by a Twitter user.

In the screenshot, the user with the handle @skinbis expressed his disappointment in the journalist over a tweet he made in applauding Hon. Sam George.

Apparently, Ameyaw Debrah expressed his admiration for Sam George for his logical prowess and confidence in leading the passing of the Anti-LGBTQ bill. 

In a tweet, Ameyaw Debrah stated how Sam George’s confidence and convictions are infectious whether you love him or hate him.

Reacting to this, the user ‘exposed’ the media personality stating that he’s part of the LGBTQ community.

He wrote; “As a member of the LGBTQ community yourself, I should be embarrassed you are tweeting this for whatever reason”.

90% of MPs or more will vote for anti-LGBTQ+ Bill – Sylvester Tetteh

The governing New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, says he’s optimistic Parliament will pass the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill currently before it.

According to him, the bill is of great significance to the country and will enjoy support from both sides of the House.

Sylvester Tetteh, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Communications Committee of Parliament made this known on Joy FM’s Newsfile on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

He, however, asked proponents of the bill to allow and tolerate dissenting views.

Mr. Tetteh explained that would provide an avenue for fine-tuning the bill for the betterment of the country.

“I have had a lot of conversations with chiefs and opinion leaders in my constituency. I think that [there is a] bi-partisan nature of this bill in Parliament. However, we must also be tolerant to other dissenting views, wherever it’s coming from and what the posture is.”

“As for the bill, I pretty much believe if you ask members of parliament, about 90% or more, or unanimously, would love to vote for it,” he said.

He becomes the second MP for the ruling party to openly speak on the bill which has generated widespread controversy after Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh has said the anti-LGBTQI+ bill before parliament in its current form, requires some changes to make it fit for purpose.

In a tweet, he said the fine-tuning will ensure that rights guaranteed by the country’s constitution are duly protected

About the bill

Some members of Parliament have initiated processes to have a law passed to criminalize LGBTQ+ activities and advocacy.

The bill, dubbed ‘The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021,)’, has received widespread public support, with a section of the public condemning it and describing it as promoting hate.

The Christian Council and the Office of the National Chief Imam have already declared their support for the bill but some academics and civil groups have described the bill as one that intends of promote hate.

Angry Concerned Youth of Nkoransah has got hold of two Gay in their community

There is more uproar in Nkoransah this Afternoon. Two suspected Gay partners finally arrested by a group of Concern Youth in Nkoransah. The activities of the Homosexuality and Gay is trying to gain much grounds in Ghana. Ghanaians must arise and fight for the values of the country. How long shall we continue to learn barbaric attitudes from the Western part of the world.

We claim to be independent Country, but we are still borrowing from the Western world. When these persist, we will continue to learn what is not expected of us. Currently in Ghana, there is a lot of controversies about LGBTQ bill. Some part of Ghanaians claim that the Bill must be accepted while others say the bill must not be accepted.

This afternoon 8th October 2021, two young boys at the age of 21 and 24 who were suspected as Muslims base on their names were caught while doing the act in their secret room. When the angry Youth who arrested them interrogated them, both confirmed that they are Gay Partners.

The 24 years old boy is called Razak and he is the man in the act. While the 21 years old boy whose nickname is Rag90 was acting as the female in the process. It was suspected that, Razak is a muslim because of his name and he was doing the act with his Muslim friend Rag90.

Speaking on Angel TV on Orgasm to Kwadwo Dickson, Nana Bafour Sakordie the spokes person of the Queen Mother of Nkoransah, stated that Razak and his friend have brought curses on the land. Hence they are likely to ban them from the township of Nkoransah in the Brong Ahafo Region.

On the same issues, Razak and his friend were made to kneel down in front of the people as sacrifice of killing animals and pouring of Schnapps as libation were made to cleanse the land of their abomination.

The angry and concern youth who were gathered at the scene of the sacrifice were shouting on top of their voice. It was alleged that, some of the youth were informing the elders and leaders in Nkoransah in the Brong Ahafo Region to kill Razak and his Gay partner immediately before dawn. Others were saying, the gods of the land should deal with them severely.
