The Board of GCB Bank Limited confirmed the appointment of the new Deputy Managing Director (DMD) – Operations, Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey.
On Wednesday, 20 January 2021, Mr. Lamptey was sworn in by Justice Sophia Bernasko Essah, a justice of the Court of Appeal, Ghana, as the DMD Operations and Executive Director of the Bank.
The Chairman, Mr. Jude Arthur, and other members of the GCB Bank Board observed the swearing-in ceremony.
Mr. Lamptey succeeds Mr. Samuel Amankwah, who retired from the Bank in 2020 after working in executive and senior management roles for 20 years.
Mr. Lamptey has over 20 years of global experience working in more than 30 African countries with listed companies in corporate and retail banking, wealth management, shares, brokerage services, pensions, insurance, and micro-finance.
He began his career with KPMG and has since held other roles, including Ecobank Ghana Chief Financial Officer-WAMZ; Group Manager, Finance at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (Togo), Group Chief Operating Officer, Letshego Holdings Limited (Botswana), and Group Chief Operating Officer, Company CEO’s Executive Business Manager – Alexander Forbes Group Holdings (South Africa). In South Africa and Ghana, Emmanuel also held many roles with Standard Bank of the South Africa Community.
Mr. Lamptey holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Cape Coast University, Ghana, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants Society, United Kingdom.
