Black Satellites coach Abdul Karim Zito says his overview was garnished by hitting the last four of the 2021 CAF U20 Cup of Nations.
On Thursday, after drawing 1-1 after overtime, the former Ghanaian defender and his charges defeated Cameroon 4-2 on penalties to progress to the Mauritania semi-final of the tournament.
Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim saved one penalty while Goni Ali’s fourth spot-kick from Cameroon destroyed the crossbar.
In his post-match speech, Zito said, “I’m very proud of the kids and also proud of myself for qualifying.”
I want to take this opportunity to thank my fellow coaches at home who have never stopped trusting me; to give me all sorts of motivation that we should do, and true to their words, we have done it and I can tell that we have qualified for the World Cup.
“And for me and the boys themselves, this is a major success, too.”
