Dancing Offers Stronger Social Skills – NKETESIA

A program that talks about ladies on Kantanka TV, Nketesia, took to talk about dancing offering stronger social skills. On the show, the ladies talked extensively about the benefits of dancing.
Gallie Ansah who is an Actress and a Choreographer said, considering the benefits of dancing, we often think about how it supports physical development in students. Dance increases their flexibility and range of motion as well as improves their balance, coordination and muscle strength.
Again, she said what’s often overlooked are the ways dance can promote important social-emotional skills. Through movement, students can learn acceptance, respect, teamwork and cooperation. By extension, students also develop empathy, which is the key to building healthy relationships with others, she added.
Another dancing benefit raised during the discussion was how dancing improves mental functioning. Dancing is a unique way to stay fit. It has many benefits for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Along with its many other benefits, dancing can boost memory and brain functions, stimulate nerve growth, increase your overall mood, and much more, she added.
The choreographer cum actress concluded by saying the mind is always looking for a rhythm, a way to keep the body moving and engaged. In dance, not only is your body getting exercise, so are your auditory and motor systems. These systems are essential in strengthening muscle memory, nerve connections, and neuroplasticity in the brain.
