Bulldog threats President Akuffo Addo on UTV

Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, known as Bulldog in Showbiz, was arrested on Monday, January 11, 2021, on charges that he had threatened President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, unless aggrieved customers of Menzgold, a gold dealer company, get back their locked-up funds, he will not complete his four-year term in office.

On UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, January 9, 2021, Bulldog, who says that he invested in Menzgold, stated: “The fact that people invested in Menzgold is also the business of someone that employs a lot of people. Now, if you have problems with whatever it is, you need to relax with your comments when commenting on Menzgold.”

“In this country, we have a culture of trying to pull people down. Look, you could start a huge business two or three years from now or even this year [but] if someone goes on the rampage to say that the business you are involved in is not good, I think it’s not healthy for our system.” Bulldog commented on the problems posed by co-panellist Afia Schwarzenegger on the show.

Bulldog said that Menzgold was operating when the government suggested that the company had no license to operate in that ‘specialized’ area, attempting to provide vivid reasons as to why Menzgold was shut down by the Akufo-Addo administration.

In my opinion, if you suggest that the person does not have a permit to run the company, you are regularizing their business. You make sure the permit is obtained, then you allow them to work. If you don’t do that and say OK to shut down[the] company, all you need to do is protect customers,’ Bulldog said.

Referring to the comments made by Afia Schwarzenegger earlier that some of her family members who saved with Menzgold had lost all their savings, Bulldog reiterated that before shutting down the company, the government had to pay all investors.
Shut them down there.

“Bulldog said, “It doesn’t make sense [if] they try to shut them down. “Customers should get their money in order to protect customers before they shut them down.”

“Afia Schwarzenegger interjected, “Where is the cash, then? ”

Clearly ruffled by the interjection, Bulldog answered: “Go and ask the government to shut them down.” Are you listening? We’re going to get our money back, otherwise Nana Addo is going to run; he’s not going to finish his four years. I say to you. He’s not going to complete his four years.’

Bulldog said, “Just shut up, that’s none of your business,” when Afia Schwarzenegger indicated that she was intimidating the President.
